Rec Ski at Hidden Valley

This weekend we had two days of ski instruction along with a number of others from Ralston.  We went to Hidden Valley, Cypress Hills Park (south east of Medicine Hat) and although it was sunny it was very cold with temperatures in the day about -12c and many of us suffered with cold fingers and toes.  Matt and I were in the same beginners group and our first morning was spent on the nursery slopes learning to stop, turn and not fall over too much!  In the afternoon we did our first Green run - which, by north American standards, averages between 20-30 degrees but has steeper spots.  I found this quite scary and fell over alot but finished in one piece, as did Matt!
On our second day we started straight away with 3 runs on the Green run then after lunch another Green run and then Matt did a Blue run and another Green whilst I sat in the warmth  After the first skiing  post lunch I realised I was very tired and had jelly legs unlike Matt who could have continued for hours!  We are now looking forward to our holiday in Canmore where we can ski more.

A few weekends ago we went to the Christmas Ball and had some lovely food and watched an interesting cabaret act who did various impressions and sang.  We had a great time with our friends and a good dance.  As you can see from the picture it was very cold when we left the ball so glamour went out the window and sensible warm clothing took precedent.

Matt went to Germany for two weeks in November and was very busy.  I amused myself with sausage making and having afternoon tea with friends.

We looked after our friends dog (Murphy) last weekend and Matt enjoyed his company and taking him for walks (in the freezing cold).  He is a very well behaved Collie so was a pleasure to look after.  Rosie and Poppy thought otherwise and told poor Murphy so, frequently!

Poppy has taken to sitting on the Internet router (it gets very hot) and often turns around and sticks her head up in the lampshade to warm her head at the same time!  Anyone would think she was cold.

Happy Christmas to all our blog readers and we will update in the New Year!
