Skiing in Morzine

We spent 4 days in Morzine (in the Haute Savoie region very close to Geneva) skiing with friends.  It was a 6 hour drive (in a hire car as the Clio would never have coped) but little traffic once out of the city.

The weather was frankly ridiculous - at least 17c every day.  Making it at times uncomfortable to ski as we got so hot and by mid afternoon the slopes became quite slushy so we tended to stop at lunchtime.  Most afternoons spent sitting in the sun with friends enjoying a beer/wine.  We rented a small apartment which had great access by bus to the slopes and also rented a ski locker so we did not have to carry our equipment every day.  This made life much easier - especially on the Tuesday when we got carried away in a bar and although made it home by 9pm we were a little worse for wear (mainly Jennifer).  We self catered until the last night when we enjoyed the classic Tartiflette - pretty much food law to have when skiing.
Jennifer had not skied for 4 years (since Canada) and was quite nervous about European skiing  but we were very lucky as it was not that busy so limited queuing for lifts.  Lots of pushing and shoving though - very unlike Canada!  No accidents - except Jennifer falling off a curb on the way home on Tuesday. We left at the right time as it rained the day after we left and the skiing was then quite limited.

 Coffee break (and nutella crepe)

first on the lifts

It was great to have a few days doing something different - and luckily Jennifer loved it so we will certainly make the most of next season.
