We had, again, the brilliant Dr Kelly Spearman guiding us and giving interesting insight into Monet's life and works. The Water Lillies series is housed in a specially designed oval room which enjoys plenty of natural light which, with the changing weather, seasons and hours of the day, constantly alters the canvasses effect.
Although it was busy in the museum I was able to get some pictures without the hoards of tourists in them.
The numerous paintings gathered by the French connoisseur Paul Guillaume at the Orangerie Museum offers a complete
picture of the evolution of French painting from the 1870's to the early years
of the 20th century including Renior, Picasso and Matisse.
Dr Kelly's tours are always interesting and I shall be enjoying more as the year progresses.
