We went on a road trip in the campervan for 2 weeks in August in France for our summer break. We did not take Ruby - she stayed at home with a lovely family who looked after very well and she had a great time.
Rather than give a detailed breakdown of our trip, here are some pictures with a little about where we were. We stayed in various places using France Passion - this is when people/businesses sign up and allow motorhomes to park overnight on their premises. You are not obliged to buy their products - but you can if you want! And we did!
First night was on a remote vinyard.
We went on after this to Chateau Chambord and did a guided tour which was very interesting. After lunch we went to Blois and visited the cathedral and pretty streets. That night we stayed at a goat farm and bought some delicious goat cheese and local honey.
Moving on we stayed on an Ostrich farm which was fantastic. The women who ran it were very passionate about what they did and also had a small shop selling goods - jewelry they made and meat. FYI - Ostrich steak is delicious! We were not allowed to visit the adults are they keep as natural and wild as possible with minimum human contact so we only saw the off spring from 3 days to 18 months.
We continued on spending a day kayaking for Matt's birthday, visiting vineyards and buying wine. Ending up just over the half way point at a campsite where we stayed for 2 nights for a break from driving and did a steep yet enjoyable walk. The weather was very warm by this point - made all the better with no aircon in the campervan as this is till an ongoing problem!

We visited Vichy and tasted the spring water - not bad! Heading back home we stopped off a a couple of champagne houses for tasting and buying (of course) and had our last night with a lovely host on his farm who spent hours that evening chatting away (in french) about everything and anything. Plus freely dishing out his Ratafia (an after product of champagne which is amazing).
Dijon was another one of the towns we visited which was very beautiful.
The alpaca/Llama farm we stayed on where we had a tour was great - a baby had been born early that morning which was adorable.

This was easily one of our best trips and we hope to do another one next year before we move. France is so big and there is so much to see.
