After the walking Matt and I went to Gloucester for a few days where we stayed in a gorgeous apartment within walking distance of the shops and restaurants. The weather started to turn sadly but we still had a good time. We had a tour of the crypt in the Cathedral which was very interesting and not at all spooky. The cathedral had some stunning stained glass windows.
We then spent two nights in Bath where we visited the Roman Baths, Fashion Museum and and art gallery.
Then a quick visit to Birmingham to see our friends the Lyndsay and Paul Taylor on Friday night. We met these two in Canada and its always fun to catch up - though Lyndsay and I may have had one cocktail too many!
On Saturday we met up with my mum, sister (Melissa) and Aimee for lunch and after doing some DIY for mum we headed to Folkstone to stay the night and get the early tunnel crossing on Sunday.
We left Ruby at home with a Canadian couple called Audrey and Pete who we found on Trusted Housesitters website. They were a lovely couple and clearly adored Ruby and took great care of her.
On a side note - last night I said goodbye to my friend Helen who I was introduced to last September (she had been living in Paris for 5 years). Helen has been a huge help in building my confidence in speaking French. Mainly through the trusted method known as 'French in a bottle' as we tended to have long boozy lunches resulting in shopping and thus talking to people (plus buying nice jumpers). Helen returns home to Australia today and although I will miss her alot my liver will be eternally grateful. Bon Voyage Helen!!
