Exploring!

So as another week has passed, we continue to settle into life here and find a routine. Matt continues to find his feet at work, and Jen continues to battle with the finer points of french language construction at her school!

We have managed to get out and about at the weekends, with last weekend seeing us visit a food fair right in the heart of the city by the cathedral of Notre Dame. It was a selection of food and wine being sold by producers from the south of France. We had ourselves a little cheese and wine for lunch, before catching the metro north to the neighbourhood famous for a host of fabric shops! Needless to say this swallowed the afternoon whole for Jen, who insisted on visiting just about every one, as well as starting her influence campaign on Matt as to why she needed very expensive Italian silk! Sunday was a more local affair, with a large 'Brocante' or car boot fair, held in the southern part of Le Vesinet. Ruby benefited from this, getting a number of cheap cuddly toys!

This weekend, we decided to take the still wounded camper van about 40 mins out of Paris to a lovely large forested area known as Parc National de Chevreuse. We stayed in a nice campsite right in the forest near Ramboulliet, and with the last of the sunny weather on our backs, we set out for a forest walk that actually lasted about 18km! Ruby was exhausted but as a result, we all had a good nights sleep without her trying to climb on the bed every 5 minutes! We had out first encounters with wild boar in the forest and some stunning red deer.
