After viewing 4 houses (and Matt having viewed 6 more separately), we decided this was the best of them. It is a flat roof house in an art deco style in the town of Le Vesinet. It is is within walking distance of the small town centre which has plenty of shops and also the RER (suburban high speed railway). There are some great walking areas too for Ruby.
The house has been recently redecorated, though the kitchen is still a work in progress and still needs worktops and new tiling etc. The house will come with a regular gardener so that will also get a tidy up. It's right on a main road (very secure garden) so rather noisy but the location is perfect so we can live with some noise. There are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom, shower room and separate toilet. There is a downstairs toilet and in the basement, another room been converted to be used a bedroom, with its own shower and sink. Most importantly there is plenty of storage space!
Le Vesinet is located in a suburb to the west of Paris, 2 stops on the RER from St Germain en Laye which is a busy market town - it has one of the best markets we have ever seen. Selling all types of food plus flowers, clothes, jewellery and as luck would have it - fabric!
Once we had spent some time with the estate agent, we went to St Germain en Laye for a quick look around then back to central Paris. As we had this wrapped by Friday afternoon we had Saturday to sightsee. We decided to sit on a tour bus for a few hours with the odd break for lunch/drinks. We did stop at Montmartre which was as touristy as I remember!
A trip back will be required to collect the keys in July then officially move sometime in August. We are now in the process of sorting out our house to rent out.
